Abstract

After a two-year coronavirus pandemic, the use of pocket parks (local-scaled public green spaces) has played a significant role in residential areas, particularly in promoting health for all resident groups. During the coronavirus pandemic, social housings have dealt with many issues related to health due to the lack of open green spaces and high population density in these communities. This research investigates how pocket parks can affect improving health (social, mental, and physical health) of all resident groups in social housing, during the coronavirus pandemic. The research relies on 28 In-depth interviews with residents of social housing communities in one of the cities of Iran: Rasht. Moreover, the research examines and elaborates on the role of pocket parks in improving social interaction and collaboration to increase public integration in social housing communities. The results of the research can be used as a planning and design guideline of pocket parks in social housings, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.
